hey, i have 16 onkyo tweeters made for gm i beleive, was thinking of hooking them up in the front or back dash or 4 in each corner. i think i can get 4 ohms hooking 4 at a time, would have to check the specs again. Is this worth the trouble or should i just get some nice 5x7s with tweeters.

    16 tweeters?????? what the hell?????

If it was me, i would do a line array of 8 each in a home speaker, cross them over at about 250 Hz. and couple them with a few 8 inch mid-bass drivers.....

Well, If ya want all those tweets could be used in a car......but i aint gunna fight that phasing issue....Good luck! I aint gunna help ya on that nightmare!!!!!!!!!

lol not sure what phasing is but i also have a pioneer electronic crossover with sub mids and high rca outputs and is adjustable for each one that is why i was thinking of this. also i like the sound to be crispy clean along with the boom boom.

Cancel that idea please....its like the on guy who was here a while back that had like 24 tweeters wired to his deck with no crossover or anything or other speakers...just tweeters and subs.

But he said it sounded good....I don't know how but to each his own

why not just use 4 for front and rear, but why would you ever want all 16. just sell the rest and make a few extra bucks.hell you can maybe get 10 for a pair.maybe.

lol, was a nice thought while it lasted. Actually my pioneer deck is pretty crisp already. I bought 16 of them at once and they have just been sitting in a box waiting to tweet!!

umm about phasing! lol my pioneer deck has a subwoofer button and i think it can invert the signal to switch it out of phase if you want. Is this what it is doing? The display will show the sub facing up, then when you switch it, the sub flips upside down and sounds a bit different. DEH-P7700MP

Basically when you flip that phase on the HU...You are just changing the timing of the sub versus the other speakers.....It is not the same as wiring it backwards....The sub will still function the same way, just out of phase (time) with the other speakers......This will fight cancellation and can make the sound better in some cases...You gotta just judge with your ears as to which sounds better...In phase with the rest of the speakers, or out of phase.

In some cases if you have regular woofers (like 6x9, 5.25, or 6.5 speakers) they may try and reproduce some of the same freq as the sub (the upper bass) and if you have multiple speakers trying to push the same freq. they can crash in the air (the sound waves) and cancel each other out....Flipping the phase will allow the smaller woofers to put out that upper bass in a slightly different time frame and avoid cancellation.....Even if you hi-pass the smaller speakers and lo-pass the subs (definitely want to) the crossover slopes will allow some overlap....I have a phase selection on my home sub and my car sub.....I always run in regular phase, and it sounds best to me...

i had that very same deck.i loved it till the rca outs took a dump and it sent a nasty alt wine to all my amps.my fault.not the decks.

ya its a great deck, i spent a little extra because was getting irritated reading about things you could do if you had this option... The deck is loaded with extras and has all the outputs and inputs possible and you can adjust everything! High pass, Medium pass, Low pass crossover, subwoofer control, 5v out, 4 channel RCA output, also 4 channel powered outputs, very nice adjustable EQ too and can save your settings as custom.
