Ok I am sure this subject has been beat to crap on here but I will ask anyway. My Sentra does not have a factory hole for the tweets there is however a place up next to the Apillar to put them. But..... my local installer has said it is best to keep them within 6 inches of the Mid. Now I have heard this before but see many factory set ups that are far from that. Not to mention the CDT center stage line. So................any thoughts and or first hand experience?? Thanks to everyone!!
I have done this both ways in many systems. And both methods of tweeter placement have yeilded great results. and both have yielded not so good results. I am of the theory that the closer the mids and tweets are together the better the time alignment and the better the phasing. Have done many installs this way and those vehicles have taken home trophies. Also done the a pilar or dash tweeter placement and had those cars take home trophies. Some of this is the luck of the draw, and alot of it is knowing what to listen for. I suggest you hook up your tweets in such a way you can experiment with locations. use sticky tape to hold them in different places and do some critical listening. change the way the tweeters are pointing, put them low, out them high, on the dash, door, whatever...just listen to each place you can accomodate ...once you find it and are happy with the results....mount em....
+100^ every ear is different, its all up to you and your ears, you can mont them were you like them and the next person might think it sounds like crap. so the tap idea works best for every one(not to permanently mount them, just so you can move them around till you are happy with the sound like viking said) .
