hi, i am currently installing a semi decent stereo in my mud truck (jeep truck std cab). I have a couple things lying around i plan on using. Here is what i have. I have 2 250 watt 3 way 10" enclosed pioneer ts-trx1000 speakers for behind the seat http://www1.shopping.com/xPO-Pioneer_TS_TRX1000#. I have 2 4X6 pioneer P461 mid-high range 2 way speakers for the doors. For an amp i have a pioneer GM-X314 4 chanell birdgable 140w amp. For a deck i am gettting a 250 watt Clarion DXZ265. Also i need 1 or 2 speakers for the center of my dash... any suggestions? is this set up going to sound good? do i have enough amp (also have a 2 chanell 120 watt jbl amp), what other things am i going to buy to hook this set up up? sorry for the noob questions. thanks.
IMO...the 3 ways behind the seats are not needed...get one 10 inch sub for behind the seat...use the 2 ways in the doors and add another tweeter higher up in the door...Ranger will help you out in this add on tweeter thing...it is his specialty...speakers in dash are not really needed...as for 4 channel amp...wire the front speakers to the front channels and bridge the rear channel to the sub...if you want the most out of this amp for the sub than buy a fairly high efficient sub.
Mud truck, right? - so door panel modification is not an issue? these pioneer trs 1000's are 6x9's in a plastic box, right? I agree with anz, small sub behind seat, if you can fit it, and take the 6x9's out of the enclosures and put them in the doors. - forget the 4x6's, they're the industry's answer for bad engineering with short deck lids. and wire the amp like he suggested.. ch 1&2 to 6x9's and ch3&4 bridged to the sub. get some satellite tweets later to add on, only if the highs from the 6x9's are muddy (no pun intended). is this a commanche, or a j10?
My jeep is pre comanche and J10. its a GLADIATOR J4000 half ton. The pioneers truck riders i have arent 6x9's. they are 10" in a plywood box. The 4X6 are needed cuz i cant fit anything in the doors (i can only mount speakers in the top of the door because of the mud issue and the biggest i can fit is 4x6 because all the window hardware is in the way). What about the DXZ265 clarion deck? is it any good? if i use the 2 4X6 in the doors and the dual 10" 3 way pioneers behind the seat u guys dont think i need any speakers in the dash at all? thanks for all the help so far.
Speakers in the dash aren't really needed...get some good 4x6's and a 10 inch sub and your good...why are you see into the full range boxes behind the seats???
Well...Hell try it out...maybe it will sound good...who knows...won't hurt to try though... What are the specs of your two amps??
why not put the 4x6s in the dash(so the mud dont get on them)and run them off of the jbl 2 ch. and run the 3 ways off of the 4ch bridged to 2 channels. and use that HU you plan on getting.that way you are useing all of your stuff with nothing else to buy.if its just your mud truck and not your daily driver im sure you dont care about sonic clarity and just want to jam out while muddin.hope that helps. ps. dont forget to secure the hell out of EVERYTHING before you take it out in the mud.you dont want anything coming loose and burning your stuff up.
ok then whole new idea. Here is what i think i might use. 1. Bazooka 300watt (with built in 100w mosfet amp) 8 inch sub for behind the seat (i like it because they are semi sealed from the elements) http://www.cardomain.com/item/BAZNOS8A 2. for a deck the clarion DXZ265 http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLADXZ265 3. For speakers in the doors (mounted near the top of the door) im thinking 3 way 6X9 of some kind (suggestions?) 4. Amp suggestions?
That headunit will work fine...as for the 3 ways...I'd hook them up to the 2 channel...don't agree with the 4 channel and bridging fronts to one box and rears to the other...separate gains and what not...sound wouldn't be exactly the same...most 4 channels...even though all channels are rated the same...have stronger rear channels. If you want some 6x9's in the doors than go for it if you can make some mounting plates for them or fiberglass....how much do you wanna spend??
im just going to bolt them in the doors i can make brackets... lol thats not an issue. i really dont wanna spend a whole pile of dough. If i buy some decent 6X9's, get a bazooka amp'd sub, get a budget amp, get the clarion head unit. what else do i need to buy except wiring?
wait if you bridge the 4 ch it wont be front and rear it will be left and right then he can adjust the gain to match the output from left to right
he would need a digital multimeter and a pure sine wave to get each one exactly the same...if he wants to do that than go for it.
i think im gonna go with 2 6X9 high end 3 way speakers in the top of my doors, an 8" Bazooka sub with built in mosfet 100 watt amp behind the seat, clarion DXZ265 head unit. Do i need another amp in there? im looking at a 300 watt bazooka 2 chanell, also what would be a good speaker for the center of the dash? i dont think 3 way 6X9's in the doors and a sub would be enough (maybe i am wrong). also maybe i dont want to go 6X9 for my doors? any suggestions for what speakers to use there? thanks
Adding an amp will always improve the sound...for 6x9s...they will be plenty loud if you add another amp for them...Bazooka makes some decent amps...list your budget for the amp....there are more options.
