Im a newbie and i need help selecting 3 10" subwoofers that would hold up and not blow out with this amp: Lanzar OPTI4000D 1x2000 Watts RMS at 4 OHMS 1x3000 Watts Max at 4 OHMS 1x3000 Watts RMS at 2 OHMS 1x4000 Watts RMS at 1 OHM heres the box i have, those are jl wo 10's and i seriously doubt they'll hold up with this amp, my budget is 400 dollars for 3 subs, thanks in advance for any suggestions you have. appreciate it!
What impedence do you have the subs wired at? The only way that amp will hit 4000 watts is if it gets hit by lightning.
i believe it is 4 ohms, but ill have to double check on that with the guy i bought the subs from, i went ahead and tried out the amp tonight, and one of my 10's blew out, the sub that blew is about 6 years old, so i dont know if it blew because its use to getting power from my old amp, a 500 watt jenson or because its just an old sub. thanks for the help so far
Your sub blew because you don't know how to correctly set the gain...you can run one 8 inch sub off that amp for 10 years and never blow...if you know how to correctly set the gain. Also why would you buy such a big amp and only want to spend 400 dollars for THREE subs??? I would have bought a better amp for the money and a couple good woofers
You might think about ONE sub In the RIGHT box..........that will kick ass on what you have right now......those ol jl's are OK subs and perform Ok, but they are old, been run by a Jensen amp, which just loves to clip, especially if youu dont know what clipping is.... look far a single sub that will take the power or close to it.......put it in the RIGHT box, and you WILL enjoy!!!
thanks for the help everyone, i only have that amp because orginally i ordered the opti1400d from this online retailer who by the way really sucks at customer service, it took them a month to get me my amp, ups then came and dropped off this huge box and inside was the opti4000d instead, so i guess being an incompetent retailer will come back around and bite you in the ass
viking, what power on a sub do you suggest i should look for and what size and brand do you recommend, thanks for the help
Not knowing your car, what you are putting them in, etc........ I would reccomend 4 of these......... http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-550 or the 12 inch version id you have the room..........
i have a 4runner, and id like to put something into that powerwedge box thats in the picture i posted
I suggest saying to hell wih that box and subs, getting four of the 10 inchers i reccomended, building the RIGHT box for them, and putting it into your truck.....Wirre the subs up series paralllel for a 4 ohm load to the amp.....it WILL rip your face off and kick some ass, better than whatever you can find to shove in that little box you have........You WILL be much happier, than finding 3 10 inchers, shoving them into that box, which will probably be the wrong discplacement, and then launching them into next week cause they didnt like the box, then being out the money you just spent on those woofers, and not having enough to buy new woofers and build a proper box, and then have NO subs in your truck......but hey, i dont know a dammed thing about speakers or anything that has to so with car audio even though I have done it more years than most folks on here combined, with a few exceptions......I am an a$$hole at times, but i am OK with that !!!!!! LOL!!!!!!! Just telling you my 2 cents from years of experience....
I agree with Viking....those four 10s WILL rip you a new asshole. Don't underestimate Dayton...They are made in the USA baby. Can't beat that also. Or you could get four of these and kick ass http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=295-185 15mm one way excursion is sweet....seeing four of these babies dance is even better
