ok ok ok. I'm really thinking about going ahead and change out my stock hu on the expedition. I have a question, i currently have two audiovox monitors on the head rests (came stock). Now, what kind of HU should i buy in order to still be able to use the monitors? Do i have to get a dvd head unit? i was looking at the Alpine DVA-9860 but the reviews on it weren't that good. I really don't need a monitor up front because i'm never in my car for more than 45 min at a time. Just want to use the monitors in case the kids want to watch something. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg to change it. I've been looking around but i haven't had to much luck. Hopefully you could all shed some light on this matter for me.
no you dont need a dvd HU, but unless the DVD player is built into the stock HU, yeah you will, but the moniters problably have there own source under one of the seats. now does the sound from the moniters play through speakers or headphones?
ok, the DVD player is not built into the stock HU. As for the monitors in the headrests, the sound comes directly out of the speakers, there isn't even a connection for headphones. So, does that mean i can just buy any sort of HU?
