I have 2 rockford p3 12's and i'm thinking about getting two more and hookin all 4 of them up. These subs are 500 watts RMS each and 1000 peak. I was wondering what my amplifier options would be. Should i try to find one big amp or run multiple amps? Also, would i need to get a bigger altenator or would my stock one have enough power? I drive a 1999 jeep cherokee btw.

    Thanks in advance.

How much money you wanna spend on an amp???

What enclosure would these subs be going in???

im not a big fan of mixing different subs in one set up so if you already have 2 of the p3's and want to add 2 more subs I would just add 2 more of the same. Ideally one big amp to run all of them would be great. Whats the voice coil set up on them.

Yea what i meant was im thinking about gettin two more of the same sub so i would have 4 p3's. There DUAL 4 OHM VOICE COIL. I'll probably end up building one big ported box for all 4 of them. Im not sure what the recommended mounting specs are. As for the amp goes, i want to have an amp that can atleast put out 500 watts to each one. I know it's going to be expensive but i really don't want to spend 1000 dollars on one. Do you think i can find anything cheaper? Also, do you think im wasting my time hooking these up. Im not sure how much bass i can expect from these. Ive seen a vid where the guy had two of these subs hooked up and they were slamming pretty good.

ok for 4 of those i keep comeing up with a final load of 2 ohms for all 4 hooked together.so look for an amp that puts out the most at a 2ohm mono load.or 2 amps that are 1ohm mono stable for 2 subs wired together.......or one amp that is 1/2 ohm mono stable for all 4 wired together.

Two strapped Elemental Designs 9.1's will do perfectly and are I think 315 each.

Together they put out around 2400 watts.

What kind of electrical upgrades have you done??? with 2000 watts you'll have some pretty bad voltage drops.

May start looking for a high output alternator and big three...and add another battery or two

I would do a soundstream PCA3500 amp. But that might be too much power for this application. Straped nine.1's would work too. Hifonics XX-Thor would get the job done as well. Either way you go you are looking at spending about 500 dollars at least for your amps.

well.. actually if you got 2 of these

wire 2 subs @ 1ohm to each amp. You could get away with that no problem.

Just watch your gains either way because all of the above suggestions have more power then you really need but it will be easier on the amps themselves to keep it like that. They all have to potential to turn those subs into toast even without clipping.

You really should look into upgrading the electrical if you are planning on running 2k rms.
