A while back, I was discussing the importance of enclosure design with a friend. I made the statement that even crap subs can sound decent, and get loud in the proper enclosure. He scoffed at that statement, saying I was full of it. I told him to put his money where his mouth is and place a wager on it. So started the bet. $100 If I could make a sub(s) under $50 each sound better, and be louder than his 2 12wo's in a prefab with 125w each. His two w0's did a 129.7 sealed in the kicks on the tl. Sounded decent, but nothing to write home about. So being the smart arse I am, I went on a quest to find the cheapest subs I could find. Paid a whopping $1 for the par at a yard sale. Figured couldn't get much cheaper Then started on the enclosure. Wanted high efficiency, and clean sound. Enter the wicked one Results, flat frequency response from around 30 to 100hz. Powered the pair of 8's with a kicker kx250.2 . Pulled a 136.3db in kick on the TL . And happily took my $100 and bought us some beer to drink while I built him a new enclosure Just goes to show 5% product, 90 % installation, and 5% beer
nice install however damn it will suck if you wanna swap subs in there how do you do that cuz if im seeing this right they are mounted inside the box and cant even be seen.
Yep , they are inside. Top panels is attached with screws, and weather stripping for easy removal if I need. But not really concerned with removing them. This was just something to fart around with. If I intended to run this set up. A couple access panels wouldn't be very hard to cut in the top
Thank you , great minds think a like seen to many people put a lot of money in equipment and then half arse the install. Only to be dissapointed
