2.0 vent, 32 HRZ, 1.75 CuFT, 3-Elemental Designs 9KV2 D4's, sounds really nice and can go low!! not as much extra SPL i thought I would get from going to two to three. The box is nice and shallow and allows acss to my amps. I think I will keep it for a while, or try 3-sealed![IMG]

Boostd....I hate to say it but I TOLD YA SO!! I knew you weren't going to gain much from adding a third sub.

    But it looks nice though

I wouldnt go sealed!!!! Just my opinion.....Oh, and the addition of ONE driver to a sytem (sub bass) will yeild about a 2-3 dB at the MOST in gain with the same amount of power....................

    Looks good.

    Notice...at "MOST"

This is due to Viking's theory of more drivers with same power equals higher over sensitivity...correct??

yep.......and it aint theory. actually....I made a mistake, the relative gian is probably more like 1.5-2 dB....At best.

lol I know...I was just raggin on you a lil bit...I was thinking 3 db was a little high for adding one woofer...I thought doubling cone area with same power gains a max of 3 db

Hell, put the damned thing ona meter!!!!! That will tell the real world gains......!!!!!!!!!!

I hafve been wring before!!!! I have surprised myself on alot of sytemes!!!

And been disapointed on a few also........but usually I am fairly accurate ina prediction on what will occur ina sytem when dealin with SPL's

Take driver efficiency say 90 dB
tehn take into account the number of speakers, say 4 of them

then take into account the power say 2000 watts.

one driver at 90 db, than add onto that 3 more drivers.....that is 96 dB of reference efficiency....

Now....with every doubling of amp power from a baseline of 1 watt, we gain 3 dB....so at 1 watt we have 96 decibals

    2 watts...99db
    4 watts...102db
    8 watts...105
    16 watts 108
    32 w 111
    64 114
    125 117
    250 120
    500 123
    1000 126
    2000 129

    get the idea????
Now we need to dactor in cabin gain, or transfer fucntion of the car,,,,that is good for about 10 db on average....139 decibals, OH and the box is ported, thats another 3 decibals!!!!!!

so said syten will do about 142 decibals...............

Yes, this s true..... tis a logarithmic function and works quite well.....

Ranger....you are a math wiz...am i right or wrong?????? (ya I know there are other variables, but this is a run of the mill thing, nothing out of the ordinary!!!! )

When I moved from the 2-subs @ 4 ohms to 3 @ 2.5 ohms, my amp starts to clip at hgiher volumes 15+. Does this mean i need a better amp? My amp is the eclipse XA-1000 rated @ 4 ohm 1% THD 320 watts, 2 ohm 1% THD 480W, the ED 9KV@ requires 200 RMS.

I put on ohm meter on my wiring into my amp and it reads 2.5 ohm.

whats the impedance on those that you got 2.5ohms with 3 subs?just wondering
