so i was lookin through forum but could not find a similar problem. I have two amps one is a phoenix gold octane 4 channel amp for my highs and a zeus for my bass . I recently blew out my subs but fixed them yesterday, when i went to install them i heard a constant thump and traced it back to the fact that i have the remote connected from the HU to my phoenix to the zeus so when i put it from HU to zeus it was fine, so the problem is with my phoenix. When it thumps approximately ever second the blue LED flashy thing thumps at the same time. The protect signal is on indicating a short or an overheat but i spent 4 hours last night looking for a short and could not find it. I thought i would try the forums. I did disconnect everything except for the power ground and remote and the thumping still occured so maybe its internal but the cost of sending it to the shop is almost the same as buying a new one. MAYBE just maybe someone knows how to approach this problem without me having to buy a new amp.

i did find a short but fixed the short .. short as in the speaker out put shortage not a power short. Maybe someone knows how to reset the amp or something of the sort?

could be the sub is half fried causing the protect to come on in the amp, try a different speaker, or even just the power and remote and see if the amp goes to protect.

    I am kinda confused......

It thumps and goes into protect with only power, ground, and remote wire connected?? Or did you have the speaker hooked up??

Do you have a volt meter??

If you have a meter check the voltage at the amp with meter connected to the point where cables connect (power and ground)...Do you have 12.6 or above (with car off)?? If so, jump from the power (positive) to the remote terminal (with remote wire unhooked).....What happens?? LEAVE SPEAKER UNHOOKED...
