I'm setting the gain on my amp and I downloaded two 50 hz test tones from two different websites and when I went to set the gain with my dmm the readings were different for each test tone. Anyone know why this might be? here is where I downloaded them from. http://www.ronelmm.com/tones/ http://www.realmofexcursion.com/ Also, as I am pretty new to this, whats the best way to connect two speaker wires into the same terminal, I'm using 12 ga wires? I just twisted them together but it was a real pain in the ass and doesn't look very good when connected to each terminal of my amp. any advice for both of these questions is appreciated.
There is no way to know if the dowloaded tones were put through in the beginning at the same level...and how they were downloaded and then converted for you to dowload..one or two db difference will cause your readings to vary... Under the screw terminal should be a flat piece that presses against the wires...Twist each wire nice and tight (solder if you can) seperately and then slide one under the flat part on either side of the screw and that will help even out the pressure...or you could get a big enough fork connector and crimp the two wires in that and slide the fork in...if it was me I would solder each wire and space on each side of the screw...you don't have to solder, you can twist them nice and tight..
Would the connection be alright if connected the two wires to a single wire with a butt connector and then connected that single wire to the amp? would that one wire beable to handle the power?
i used 12 gauge for everything, does the single wire being connected need to be bigger or just the same size?
