My husband bought a pair of used speakers off a local web list. The guy said they were perfect, like new. He looked at one of them and not the other. The one he looked at was in excellent condition he took the guy at his word & paid him. Once he got home and looked, the other one had a tear on the outer edge of the cone that has been repaired with what looks like silicone. They are 6 x 9 and have a Theralum woofer cone. What effect will this have on the sound & how well will silicone hold the tear? We would hook them up but they are to go in my car that my hubby is in the process of doing a complete redo and it's in the bodywork stage. Some people just have no integrity.

as long as its a quality silicone with a good adhesive you have nothing to worry about.

Welcome! Sounds like ebays bullcrap lol. They should be fine. Maybe you can try them before actually mounting them.

that sucks but as long as the tear is covered with the silicone you should be fine. Hope you didn't spend too much for those speakers.
