Well im new here and need help with setting a system up with an amp.

I plan on going with an alpine head unit, 2 pairs of infinity 6x9's, and 2 12" JL subs.

Now do i need a 4 channel amp for the speakers and 2 channel amp for both of the subs.

Thanks for any help or advice

    Welcome aboard Powerstroke....

A 4 channel amp will make for a nice simple clean install with fewer hassles. sound good doing it too.

Most 4 channel amps have an electronic x-over built in making it easy to set up.

The front channels could run the 4 speakers running your highs.....but you wont have front to rear fade control, and the rear 2 channels can run the subs.... this is a very easy way to get a nice sytem going!

With the addition of a second amp, to run your subs, creates even greater potential for more SPL and even a bit of SQ.

Either method will yeild good results, it all depends on what you wanna spend.............

you may also want to look in to some 5 or 6 ch amps also.

all you need in one chassis

thank you viking that was just what i was looking for,

i think im going to end up going with-

    alpine head unit

    2 pair of infinity 6x9's

    2 12" JL audio subs

and a JL amp- would i get good results with a 300 wat 4 channel or the 500 watt?

    how does that sound?

    thanks again

WHether its a 300 watt or 500 watt amp, the difference in output will be very little....300 watts is alot of power really......

If ya wanna go with 500 watts, you wont go wrong either....it will give you a bit more dynamic range and the chance to get a little bit louder those times you crank it up too that song you really like!

Bottom lime, it is better to have too much power than not enough.

    I plan on getting (2) JL 12" 600W Dual 4-Ohm Subwoofer.

The 300 watt doesnt sound like as much difference so I will just with that due to $200 price difference.

On the speakers there are 2 way and 3 way, whats the difference?

Thanks for all of the help I really appreaciate everything!

how much are you gonna spend on an amp for these???

these will perform the same way the JLs will and do it with a smaller box and less power. still can handle more power than the JLs. prolly over 100 bucks cheaper...better warranty and better customer service
    Elemental Designs

    I'm gonna get the 19Ov.2

were you thinking of using the front channels for the 6 by 9s and the rear bridged channels for the subs?

if so than you would be better off using one 12 inch woofer.

that amp is not enough for two w3's...not even enough to push one w3

do you think it would be enough power with a 500 watt JL

the 300/4 for the 6x9's and the 500/1 for the subs?sure.

the 300/4 alone would only put out 150x1 to the rear outs or closer to 200 cause the jl's put out a little more than rated.thats good for one sub but maybe not 2.not if your looking for killer bass.

the 500/1 will be a better suit for two 12s.
