hey i found out today that i cant upgrade my alternator for my 2002 lincoln ls. i called the dealership and they said i have to put the factory one in. i think the factory alternator is 130amps and i have 2 jl audio 12w7 2 1000/1 amps 1 300/4 and xr jl components hooked up. so i need some suggestions now for how im going to keep my lights from dimming and my power real high? i was thinking a 25 farad power acoustik cap and a red top battery?
Read the sticky about capacitors. A 25 farad cap will do nothing but hurt your electrical system...with two 1000/1's you are probably going to have a new alternator...just don't tell the dealership...those 1000/1s are very power hungry. two 500/1s or one 1000/1 can push a couple 12W7s easily
what do you mean by the big 3? and also i dont know where to get one that would fit in my car and is good i heard of lestek or something. and how much amps would i need?
the big three involves adding a larger wire from your alt to your batt.adding or replaceing your grounds too.larger gauge wire. i can never remember what else.....its in one of these threads somewhere
There is a sticky about the big three...also if you are buying a new alternator get the biggest you can afford...but make sure it puts out good power at idle
