    Here's the fight...

Alpine Type R's vs. Infinity Kappa Perfects vs. JL W6's

    Let me know. Thanks

by the way, i'm running an Alpine MRD-1005 2ohms 1000Watt RMS

JL Audio by far. their excusion plus their extreamly underrated power rating make them tough to beat.

alpine type rs are overrated and chinsy. alpine makes great heads but unless your buyin the X type the subs are crap.

infinity makes great speakers their perfects (which i personally use) are about the best speaker youll find on the market. their subs however the white egh i just dont like them and the plastic cone for the woofer im more of an old skool carboard fan.

this question always get people in a tizzy

what are you upgrading from, ibanez?

what are you wanting to go to? (size and #)

what did you not like about the old, that you want different from the new?

I like jl stuff, but have seen a lot of failures

and there are manufacturers out there besides jl, kicker, alpine, infinity, are you willing to broaden your horizon?

Two of my favorite brands are Oz Audio and lets not forget Boston. Those 2 seem to always get overlooked but they make some awesome speakers!

Boston or the Old School W6's lol...Type R's are pretty overrated.

Yeah, all my buddies that work at BEST BUY tell me to get type r's. but i really don't think they're that good. The Infinity kappa i've heard nothing bad about them and I really want to try them because I'm using reference 1240w's right now, but one of them blew, and so I want to upgrade before the other one blows too. (so if anyone wants to buy a 1240W... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...90008014171&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&rd=1 )

And JL's are always good, but they were just too expensive, but since CadillacTEC1997 has some for cheep, I might go with those.

never trust anyone at best buy. dont buy anything there either. they have ****ty subs and they're way over priced.

Lol people at Best Buy just want you to buy the most expensive sh*t their...meaning the type r's...Those Type R's are the best subs at Best Buy anyways...But still I wouldnt buy from Best Buy...Too pricey.

I don't buy from BEST BUY, but the people at my local store really know what they're talking about.. not the people on the floor, but the install guys know a lot. But yeah.. Alpine Type R's are out. I really didn't want them anyway. so it's 3 Used JL 12w6v1's (in which I have to buy a new box and remount everything - sub, amp and cap) or two brand new Kappa perfects...

Dont buy the box. You might as well get those dual subs bestbuy gives away with everything if you plan on using a premade box. It seams like everybody here has proved that at some point. Just ask ranger and a few others.

And besides...building your own is cheaper anyway...

Boston G2 Series subs are sweet...Heard them in person also...Love them.

If you have the money the G5's are crazy...3 inches of peak to peak excursion.

But a couple of G2 12's in a properly designed ported box will pound and sound clean.

I like the G2's cuz they are soo smooth...I'd get them over Type R's anyday.

Also 2 inches of peak to peak excursion is pretty cool to watch.

Well I'm a sealed box kinda guy. I trust this rule of thumb.. "Rock = Sealed and Rap = Ported"
But yeah, i'm gunna buy the Kappa Perfects. Wish me luck.
it's so much easier. No new box, no new anything. Just have to slide them in. simple.

oh yeah.. how many of you have an upgraded car battery or a second battery or an upgraded altenator.. i'm thinking i need something. Let me know how it works out for you! thanks!

Good luck...I have a cheap Duralast deep cycle but it does the job.
