does anyone have any knowledge on subs in a truck? i am making a box to fit under my rear seat.....i need to know if i will get better sound out of pounding the 10" subs into the bottom of the seat or poundig the subs towards the floor... It is a 2000 Chevy Silverado extended cab. I am looking for decent sound quality and also loud bass. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

if you have enough room for a 3-4in gap from the Floor I would recommend Fireing them down.

I am assuming that you are using a sealed box. Firing down by far is the best way to go. it give you much better SQ(sound quality) and you get almost the same accoustics as in a car.

P.S. If you have high excursion subs, make sure when they throw that the cone doesnt hit the floor.

Micheal, what do you think about a super-cab truck, such as a Ranger? I just picked up a 97 Ranger Supercarb (exdended cab model). I've been talking to Geo and Pressurized, and I'm about to construct an ABC box next weekend using Aeroports. I was planning on foreward-firing the woofers, and up-porting the aeroports, since that is the only direction I have room to port them with. What do you think?

I'd go with solo baric 10's. You don't need as much airspace, so you could build a pretty room efficient box. If you don't care about room, i would suggest 4 solo baric ten firing forward, towards the windshield. That is the loudest truck in our state bumping tens, in a ranger.

No, actually, I'm going to be building an ABC box using Aeroports. For right now, I'm going to be running a pair of Orion XTR series 2 10's, more or less just because I have them. I basically want to experiment with this type of box design because not many people do, and I want to see the results. If they get loud as ****, cool. If not, I'll sell them and pick up a pair of AE AV 12's and port them in 5 cubes.

BTW guy - if your suggesting 4 solobaric 10's sealed over 2 12's ported - go do some reading on other audio forums, man, the 2 12's ported will displace more air than 4 10's sealed. I've been an OG at www.caraudioforum.com for years, come over and check that place out. I'd say one of the top 5 most imformative audio forums on the net. Do some reading, and bring that knowledge over here.

look into the pioneer 12's. there are some low profile subs that are only 4 inches deep. 300 wrms.

Sorry I did not reply, Where is Geo been anyway, I have not talked to him in forever, if you chat with him tell him I was up in his neck of the woods a few weeks ago, that is if he still lives in Buffalo NY.

Any way, I know nothing about ABC boxes, Geo would be the one to listen to on that one, if he thinks it is a good set up, it is a good set up;):p
