i have 2 12" legacy red cones and a AL audio 1000 watt 2 channel amp. the amp puts out 250x2 at 4 ohms and 500x2 at 2 ohms, the subs are 4 ohms and 600watt rms. if i wired them at 2 ohms it wouldnt hurt anything would it?

It looks like from the subs description that they are 4 ohm dual voice coil..If each coil is 4 ohm, you can wire them 2 ohm each and run the amp in stereo with each sub running off a channel loading the amp at 2 ohm/channel....

Just don't bridge the amp and try to run 2 ohm load...You could wire each sub in series making each sub an 8 ohm load and then parallel that to the amp making one 4 ohm load that the bridged amp should handle....Do you have a link to the amp?

    I wouldn't feed over 300 watts per sub...highly overrated
