Hi, first post to this forum. I am looking for suggestions. Please keep in mind, I know just enough about audio to be dangerous.

My factory installed "Infinity Gold" system that came in my 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs to be replaced. The speakers are shot. Several months ago I replaced the stock head unit with a Pioneer from Crutchfield.

The system has six speakers (tweeters in dash, and 6 1/2" speakers in each door). In addition there is a factory amp under the rear seat.

The plan is to replace all the speakers and to remove the amp. The questions I have are as follows:
If I replace the front door speakers with two way speakers would I need to also put new tweeters into the dash, or could I just omit them?
I plan on running new wiring from the head unit to the speakers. What I want to do is to run the wiring back under the rear seat where the amp currently is installed, leave a couple of loops of wire there ( in case I want to install a new amp and a sub at a later date) and then route the wires to the speakers. Will the extra wire cause any problems?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    first off, welcome.

you dont need to add tweets in the dash but i would mount a tweet higher up in the door. do you plan on adding a 2way (coaxial) or component set of speakers? cause those door speakers are pretty low in there.

in my truck i added a dash speaker to raise the sound stage. i had too in mine.

Thanks for the quick response. So what I gather from your post, it would be better not to put the two way in the front doors and just replace the tweeters also.

what kind of speaker system do you plan on getting? a coaxial set or a component set. if its the comp set, then place the tweet higher up to bring the sound closer to ear level.

if a coaxial set get then get one that allows you to aim the tweeter to ear level.
