I have a strange problem. I put a little sound in my truck last Feb 08. No real problems. Today I was fine tuning the gain and high pass filter when all of a sudden my right front door speaker set (alpine spx-ref 6.5) went to static. The statis varies in intensity but is indepenent of volume control, fade, balance, etc. It is consistent whether the engine is on or off (with key still on). The only way to get rid of it is to turn off the hu. I pulled out the hu, checked the amp connections, speaker connections in the door and no dice. (note that i am not very tech/mech savvy). i did pull both sets of rca plugs from the mca2004 pushing front and rear door speakers and static still there. what the heck could be going on? and why would it just start out of the blue?? 06 toyota tacoma double cab alpine 9886 hu memphis mcd500 500w memphis mca2004 50w x 4 kicker 12 shallow sub alpine x-ref 6.5 components (front doors) kicker 6.5" (rear doors)
so you checked and swtiched out your RCA's and the problem is still there? I take it from your post that the speaker is connected to the amp. Did you check to make sure that the speaker wires at the amp and at the speaker are secure and that no wires are touching anything else? If it is connected to the amp, try to switch to another channel on your amp just to rule out that there isn't something wrong with the amp itself and get back to us.
remove the speaker and plug in another speaker at the door. see what it does. while the speaker is out maybe plug it into your home amp if you have one. see if it does the same there.
thanks for the input. i broke down and brought the truck to the place where i bought and had my system installed. turns out i have a bad channel in my highs amp. went ahead and bought another one. sending the old one back to memphis, as it is covered under 3 yr warranty. will ty and sell it when i get it back. thanks again.
