Sorry for the basic question here, but I'm new at this. Basically I just have a question on whether I can hook these up together. The system will be powered by head unit only, and with what I have I would need to hook up 2 of the speakers in parallel on either side. So my question is if it is okay to hook up two 4 ohm speakers in parallel into one channel? Or what should I do? Thanks!

    Here's what I've got:

Head unit - Pioneer Premier DEH-P 880 PRS
Speakers - Polk Audio dB-400 4 ohms (dash)
Polk Audio dB-675 4 ohms (doors)
Polk Audio dB-400 4 ohms (back)
    Subwoofer - Infinity Basslink 10" Self-Amplified

Look in the manual for this unit and see what it says....if it says to connect speakers to each set of outputs that are 4 ohm or higher, then you cannot parallel two 4 ohm speakers....I kinda doubt that you could do that, simply because the internal amp is probably not rated to run in 2 ohm stereo....

I tried to find a manual on line, but I don't have a lot of time and I could not find anything other than basic specs on the unit.....I think the power ratings it gives are rated to be at 4 ohm....

You CAN connect two speakers to one channel...but they MUST be wired in SERIES...if you wire them at 2 ohms to the deck it willl FOR SURE fry

Well, manual says speakers must be 4 to 8 ohms. When I bought these in a stereo installation shop, someone told me if I put an attenuator -4dB on the front (dash) speakers it would be okay to run them in parallel with the door speakers. Would that work?

Also, if I run them in series, will I lose some power?

Or would the best solution be to buy a small amp and hook these up differently? Any suggestions on what type of amp I should be looking for with this setup? Although, I can still change the back speakers to 6.5” polk.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it.

An attenuator wouldn't really do much besides lower the power going to them...the load would still be too low for the deck.

I would say get a nice 4 channel amp for them
