Hello, I have a kicker cvr 12 inch subwoofer in a ported box, (heres a link) http://answers.shopping.com/xPF-Kic...ker cvr 12~linkin_id-8002939~DMT-1~VK-8002932 and just recently replaced my old amplifier with a new crunch 1000 watt 2 channel amplifier because i got a good deal on it. Heres a link http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5412.html I have been reading about the problems with overpowering amps and would this negatively affect my subwoofer when i hooked it up? Thanks

have you also read the link on overrated amps?

    - just kidding. keep the gain down low, and gradually increase it as you go. Pay special attention to how the sub is doing, and back it off if you notice any distortion or slapping. chances are that the kicker can take all that the crunch will put out, since the crunch is not really kicking anything close to 1000 watts in real life. you can overpower a sub for very short periods of time without damaging it (have you heard of a burp?)

but just be careful not to pound the crap out of it while in an overpowered state, you can get some clipping and kill your sub. you can tell when a sub is getting too much power.. just listen to it

You should have bought a mono channel amp...that amp you bought is going to be pushing prolly 200 watts rms of clean power.

WTF!!! 100 pounds for the CRUNCH AMP!? .. man they must rip you off overseas. You can prolly get that same amp for like 50 bucks american. ANYWAYS, well if you bridge that amp to that one sub.. you will be fine. That amp won't overpower that sub. So you have no worries. Hook it up and let it rip.

That amp is not stable at 2 ohms mono...you can bridge that amp but you must wire the sub in series for 8 ohms

Very first paragraph on the top of the page. I QUOTE!

    Product Rating:

12" Dual 2 ohm Sealed Hatch Subwoofer Hatchback-style sealed enclosure with one CompVR 12" subwoofer, 4-ohm total impedance, frequency response 25-500 Hz, handles 50-400 watts RMS, sensitivity 87 dB

    I quote the sites specs

    Technical Features
    Peak Power Handling 800 Watt

    Frequency Response 25 Hz - 500 Hz

    Sensitivity 86.40 dB

    Impedance 4 ohm (Dual Coil)

    So something is wrong

obviously they are retarded. they meant 4ohm final and put dual instead like asshats.

they are retard for putting 4 ohm final INSTEAD of DUAL 4 ohm
