Got a question that I hope someone can answer.

First off, I have an Alpine CDA-9851 (head unit), a Pioneer GM-6100F (600 watt 4 channel amp) pushing 2 6.5 inch Polk audio components.

The problem is the sound cuts out after a few minutes of listening to moderate volume. The sound comes back after a second, but if I keep the volume steady it'll cut out again. If I keep the volume low, it won't do it. Is the amp running out of juice? It's got 4 guage power wire, which I think is plenty. Any help would be appreciated. It's my work truck and I'm in it most of the day and you could imagine that it gets irritating. Thanks.

Welcome! Sounds like a weak ground on the amp to me or bad positive connection.

    Welcome!!!

    First, the easy things......

Check to be sure that BOTH tweeters are working !!!!!!!!

Then be sure your amp ground is securely done........clean shiney metal for the attachment point......

let me know what you find!!!!...........this is important

I sanded down the ground location and guess what doesn't seem to happen anymore. I even added two 5.25 Polk 2-ways into the mix. The advice is greatly appreciated. Just out of sheer curiosity, why ask about the tweeters?

I withdraw my question. And walk away in shame that I didn't catch that sooner.

    DONT feel ashamed.....

    we all start somewhere....

Getting help for what you dont know about is smart...not stupid.

As Einstien said..genius is not the ability to retain the information, but the ability to know where to FIND the information....

If a tweeter is blown then the resistance load on the amp changes to dangerous levels which will cause the amp to overheat or go into protect or burn and fry like bacon and eggs. lol how's that

    You got the basics right....!!!!!!!!

Anytime a tweeter blows, when in a 12 dB/oct or higher slope...the amp see's a dead short when the tweeter is out of the circuit, either blown or not there.....
