Seeing that you lazy bastards arent answering my questions from the other post, Ill make a new thread!

Some kid wants to trade for my 7893. He wants my deck plus 75 dollars for his 7878. How does this sound? How is the 7878?

ive always wondered why the 7878 was so expensive....

its the first mp3 deck that alpine did(the first ever????????)
and its STILL more expensive to buy new than even the 98** series

    thats all i know

    I'd hold off.

With all the sub-$200 MP3 decent quality HU's out there, it doesn't seem like a hot deal to me.

Just after the 7894 was discontinued, I bought one authorized at a local shop for $200... and that includes the time alignment and all that... and it's a good performer.
I bought my other 7894 almost a year earlier, online, unauthorized for the same price.

What features does the 7878 have that the 7894 doesn't?
I'm not familiar with the 7878 at all.

Glancing it over, it appears to be just like a 7894, with a 7-band EQ built in.
...and a 24dB/octave Xover instead of a 12dB/octave, if you use the HU for that.

Quite a jump in price, for that, IMO!
But if you aren't paying that price... it doesn't really matter. ;)

If it's worth $75 to you to gain MP3 capability, a 7 band EQ, and a steeper Xover than you have now - then yes!

It's just a matter of - is it worth it to you?
And of course - what shape is this guy's HU in? ;)
