i`m looking for ideas on some accurate beats to set up a systems gains & tones properly what`s everybody`s favourites?
I dont like to use just one song. When people say that their system is set up for rock or country or rap, what they have is a poorly done system. A properly "done" system will accurately play anything, regardless of genre. Here is what I do (and others may have methods that are also very good) The first thing I check for is the singer, can I hear them? Is the voice right there in my face? I like Barbra Streisand "Send In The Clowns", her voice is super powerful and will show any flaws in this department. If you think its right, then "Gloria" by Laura Branigan will be the next check. Her voice should clearly come through over the instruments. From here we really need a variety. I like Swing style Music for this part. Its wide range of instruments can really show flaws in a system. "Ding Dong Daddy Of The D-Car Line" by Cherry Poppin' Daddies or "Black And White" Bellevue Cadillac are a couple choices I use. Listen to all the instruments. Are they all coming through clearly? "Lead Me On" by Teena Marie is a good over all final check for system performance The main thing is this, use a wide variety. I listen to classic rock, but when I check a system I use everything but classic rock. The final check is done with my music, but only after it passes my other checks Again there are other good methods, but thats how I do it
thats how i do it too. i like diana krull, and renee olstead for vocals. then its jazz. i need to look into some swing music tho. i like that too, just dont have any.
Jazz would be an awesome choice instead of Swing. It also has a wide range of instrument arangements. I have not used Jazz alot so I have no specific music selections.
the last install i did for a friend i used jazz and some diana krull. using the aux in from my laptop. my friends buddy thought i was dumb for setting it up with music instead of rap. then i let him sit in my truck and he changed his mind, lol. with his very limited settings i.e bass, mid, treble. i was able to set the xover and tone controls as best as i could. my buddy loves the way it sounds and as far as i know hasnt touched anything on the amp or radio.
