    Hello, this is my first post on these forums..

    I've just purchased my first car, a second hand 2000 Corsa, which appeared to come with a Radio/Cassette player. Now, I foolishly didn't try turning it on before I bought the car, and on getting home have realised that the unit isn't even wired in! I've rang up the dealer, but he claims it wasn't actually advertised as coming with an audio system, so it's out of his hands..

    I'm a complete newbie when it comes to cars, but it seems that the aerial cable for the radio is missing a tip, as it seems to be just a bare wire;

    There is also a multi pin plug which I guess contains the power, audio cables etc;

    On plugging the the pin plug into the unit, it appears that the speakers are receiving a signal, as when pushing the audio knob up to max there is an audible hiss. Although, on trying to play a cassette it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm guessing the cassette player is bust, and I can't test the radio due to the bare aerial lead.

    I had planned on mainly using my Ipod as the source of music in my car, and was going to buy one of those cassette > aux adapters, but if cassettes won't work I guess that won't work either?

    I'm willing to buy a new unit for the car, but I'm not sure on compatibility between different types of plugs etc.

    If anyone could suggest a course of action I could try, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
