Save the space or just use it?

So I currently own 1-Alpine SWX 12" sub and have an Alpine PDX1.1000 to power the beast however I just bought a new Nissan Cube and was thinking how cool would it be to mount a new box into the rear door.

I was thinking instead of killing the trunk space with the Type X 12 I would go with 2 shallow mount subs from Kenwood-KFC-XW800F.

I would still use the PDX1.1000 to power the two 8's but my concern is what am I giving up by going the 2-8" shallow mount subs versus the 1-12" Type X.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

The plan for the box on the 12"er would be a ported box that would sit flush with the seat when it is folded flat down so I would still have room to fit stuff when the back was all set up to move stuff around.

    Thanks everyone

trunk space is overrated, just got another type x 12 :)

but for real, i would NOT downgrade from a type x to kenwoods...ever.

that's what I was definitely leaning to and I don't know why I even considered downgrading the subs themselves.

I guess the idea of a fun custom fiberglass box sounded fun but you guys are very correct and I must stick to what I have...plus it's less money for this part of the install.

    Thanks

Well you could always make a nice custom fiberglass box to fill up the trunk space ;)
