running a car amp in the house?

    i have a plug that goes into a wall outlet and puts out 12VDC. can i use that to power a car amp? i know it will work but will it fry the amp if its on to long?

    unless its a huge 12v power supply then no i wont work. it will need to put out at least over 30 to 50 amps or more depending on the amp in question. a small 2ch with lets say 50x2 will run fine on something like that, but a power hungry sub amp will need more power.

    I use an Iota DLS 55 in my house to provide power to bench test amplifiers. It also doubles as a battery charger, hence that is how I justified my purchase! I purchased it from t5sales on eBay. Oh yeah, the other neat thing about this power supply is when I swap gear in the vehicle and want to re-tune. I hook this bad boy up to the battery and go to town without starting the car. Works like a charm!
