I only have one set of preouts on my head unit. I'm looking for a 5 channel amp. I see some will work with just 2 inputs and some with just 4. Are all 5 channel amps like this or do some actually need the sub input as well? I might just end up getting the alpine pdx5 and didn't see an input switch in pics. If I need to use the sub input , would I be better off getting a cheap eq such as powerbass AEQ7X0 or splitting the rca's? If splitting , then how do I go about it?

if your head doesnt have an eq or its limited in "bands" then get an eq, but go for the nicest one you can afford. some even have line drivers that boost your output voltage so you dont have to turn the gains up too high; so as not to induce noise.

I found a few that have line drivers. Would you suggest any of these? Soundstream MPQ-7XO , Soundstream MPQ-5XO , or Hifonics HFEQ
