I was considering buying the Alpine iXA-W404 and I have an iPhone. According to the specifications, the only method of input that it has is a USB port in the back. I understand that I can play the music from the iPod application on the iPhone without any problems, however, I use Rhapsody and Pandora as well as other audio streaming applications and unsure of whether the sound from these will be able to be used. So basically what I need to know is whether all sound is able to be transferred through that cable or whether I'm going to need to find another head unit with an auxiliary input?

I believe that you are correct. The iXA-W404 only has a USB input. Also that Alpine was designed to work with the iPod and the iPhone. So I don't see why there would be a problem.

You can download the Alpine directions for that HU at the Alpine site.

Thank you for the reply. I've got another question that is related to this. There are USB to 3.5mm adapters like http://www.vpi.us/usb-audio.html and was wondering if that would be a viable solution in the unlikely circumstance that a problem should arise?
