Ok, right now i have an alpine v-power amp that runs 75x4+180. this amp runs everything in the car. Now my question is if i got rid of the amp and sub and replaced it with my 2 e15k's and a new amp, would i be able to run the speakers on the HU and run just the sub off the amp? the amp i am looking at is the avionixx one that ed has on their website that puts out 800x1 at 4ohms. what do you guys think? and yeah the smileys here are still the best... :starwars: :gunsmilie: :robot: :stupid: :bash: :rifle:
Your bass will sound nice but your other speakers will sound kinda shitty. The amp inside the headunit is lower powered and not very clean. If you're more or a bass head it would work until you get an amp for the fronts (please eventually get an amp for the fronts ). But if you like nice smooth sounding music, I would advise against running anything off the headunit power.
well i do like my bass but i think i might try it and run it for awhile until i could find another cheap amp to run the speakers with. also, would it help the fronts if i disconnected the rears while running them off the HU??
I don't think it will help anything as far as making it cleaner or giving more power to the fronts. Some people, including myself, dont like to have any back speakers anyway. So you could try it and if you like it that way save money and just get a 2-channel amp for the fronts.
dam true. its the fact everyone, says damn them some tight rear fills you got there nothing there but waste
thanks guys, i will look into it a little more how much do you think an alpine v-power 75x4+180 is worth? and a kenwood tornado 12 in box?
Alpine amps are always nice. I absolutely support the "don't run rear fill" crowd. http://www.betteraudio.com/geolemon/phasin...ing/phasing.htm There's the reasons. B) You definitely will absolutely hate running your speakers off HU power, if you've got a decent power amplifier now. Let's establish what you want to end up with, and then we can recommend amplification strategy. Are you looking for SQ, or SPL? Street beating, or proper tonal balance? What does the word "imaging" mean to you?
lol alright geo here we go: imaging-eh something i will think about when i am over 20 i am looking for mainly spl but i want to be able to hear lyrics too my goal is to spend THE LEAST money possible, as i have none after buying the car. i would like to put in my 2 15's and an amp for them with the money i get from selling the alpine amp and kenwood sub. down the road i intend to amp the speakers but i guess in the meantime i will run them off the HU and suffer....
Then what you're thinking about should be fine for a while. Just while you're doing it mess around and disconnect the rear speakers; see what you think.
