Ok I recently bought an Alpine 50W x 4 iPod™-Ready Satellite/HD Radio-Ready CD Deck with MP3 Playback with a pair of Pioneer TS-A1681R 4-Way Speaker 6-1/2" speakers and a pair of Dual illumiNITE 6-1/2" 4-Way Coaxial Car Speakers and Alpine V-Power 75W MOSFET Multichannel Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover The type of music I listen to is Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Classic Rock and that's pretty much it. And I'm wondering how do I finely tune my stereo sound? How do I tune the amp so that the music may sound good and not overly distorted and sound horrible? I would appreciate all the help anyone gives me thanks.
First why did you buy some nice pioneer speakers then some cheasy Duals? Rule of thumb is to turn your head units volume up about 2/3 or 3/4 doesn't matter. But, when you do this keep the settings on the amp all the way down. Then slowly turn the gain up until it sounds nice (doesn't distort but is still loud and clean). As for the crossover (assuming the amp has a high pass which it prolly does) I would be it to between 60-120...whatever sounds best. You'll prolly notice the Dual speakers to start to distort before the Pioneers start to. If I were you I'd get something better to get another set of Pioneers (3 ways will work). Also those 4 ways are "really" 4 ways. It's a 2 way with 2 passive super tweeters.
First, I wanted Four Pioneer speakers, But the place I bought them at told me that the Pioneers speakers would not fit in the front, because the front were not made to fit 6-1/2" speakers only the back. So they suggested the 6-1/2" Dual speakers would. My car is a 1993 Nissan Sentra. I thought that was bull**** though, but I trusted them. Also, what do I really look for when buying speakers? Also, what would you suggested I'd look for in a Subwoofer? Thanks A lot, going to tune it later today
for rock, I'd stick 2 stout 10's in a sealed box, or 2 Good 8's in an enclosed bandpass (bandpass where you can't see the subs). Won't take up too much trunk space, Will sound and feel nice in that little trunk, and won't broadcast extended bass tones, so you have less worry about your crap getting gangsta'd. Don't go for huge power handling, that way you can go with a less expensive amplifier. Jl, kicker, Ma even (choke) audiobahn. stay away from rockford fosgate, lanzar, sony, and anything under $60 per sub (generally) any help?
I think that guy who told you that a 6 1/2 Dual would fit and not 6 1/2 pioneer is a dumbass. I mean a 6.5 will fit a 6.5 but the depth may differ. Pioneers are deep anyways so I'd say get another set. As for subs, two 10's, two 8's, or one nice 12 will all do the job well. How much do you want to spend on subs? amp? We'll give you some suggestions after this.
well, i paid a buttload for the stereo, amp, four speakers and the ipod adapter so i'm willing to go as far as "expensive" thanks a lot everyone
Boston Acoustics G2 10's sound really nice...friend of mine has some on a pioneer 760watt amp and they sound soo clean. Even though they are underpowered they can still get loud cuz of their high sensitivity.
Im in the same situation as you. Im buying an alpine head unit, cable, and ipod too. What model number? You should definately return the duals. The guy was right about the 6 1/2 pioneers not fitting. The door fits a 5 1/4 inch with a 2 1/8 depth.
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2545 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2522 This website has a weird warranty tho...but they are the cheapest here that i could find. First check your local car audio shops and see if they carry them. You could also go to crutchfield.com but theirs are like 179 a piece.
I just installed an entire Boston system. I have one 10" G1 powered by the BA GT-20, Very clean and great for rock, Just be sure you play around with the sensitivity and lowpass on the amp. My truck is a 94' Chevy extended cab, and the 1 10" still is enough for everything except maybe hiphop. But I would say I am more of an Audiophile then a Bass junky.
Yes...someone else who likes Boston Acoustics. You don't really hear much about people with Boston products...atleast I don't. I really like pretty much their whole line of products. Taco, what kind of enclosure is your G1 in? I haven't heard the G1 series of subs in person but was looking to get either two G1 12's or two G2 10's. I've only heard the G2's and I really like em.
The model number on the Alpine Stereo is CDA - 9856 And yeah, I'm having serious thoughts about exchanging those Duals. I mean, the music sounds great and heavy and bass-e, but still I'm going to exchange them pretty soon. And it's bullcrap because I've had my car jack and stripped of my stereo system numerous time and before this set up I have right now, I had two pairs of Pioneer speakers, front and back. So, at the time when I buying my fourth stereo system, the guy was looking at my car and said "Those Pioneer speakers will not fit on the front" Right away I told him that's incorrect I guess he was looking out, making sure I buy the right system And I should have been more assertive and said I really wanted another pair of those Pioneer speakers But then again I was stoned at the time I bought it, so I wasn't thinking very clearly So, maybe that should explain the Dual speakers, since I'm getting so much crap about them. It's cool everybody, I'm not getting butt-hurt about it, I think It's just funny
