Now that I have them I want to make sure i feed them. They r 500 watts RMS each. I get confused when some people say underpowering will hurt subs. Can I get away with less than 1000 watts for the pair? I was thinking about 700-800 watt amp. If that wont work I will look for a decent 1000 watt amp.

Underpowering a sub will not cause harm due to lack of wattage. What DOES harm a sub is driving an amp beyond its limits and causing the audio output of said amp to "clip" or to send short bursts of high voltage DC from the power supply to the speaker. It seems to me that amp designs today are better than those of yesteryear, but to drive an amp beyond its rated output does cause problems. Thats why a 500 watt amp can potentially exceed the thermal limits of a 750 watt speaker. I have seen it done... Speakers HATE DC voltage!

You have 2 500w rms speakers. so the max you would want to do is 1000w rms. your worried about underpowering the speakers. Now a days thats not really a big deal. just realize the a 700-800w amp will have an rms fairly low most likely. we are talking about maybe 200w rms max. which wont hurt the subs but def wont even come close to getting the functionality that the subs were meant for. loudness etc. i would suggest going for at least a 400w rms or so if you want to keep it low
