I had my power capacitor hooked up then my power wire came off as soon as i realized it was off i went to reconnect it and i must of waited a bit to long my capacitor sparked and turned off when i hooked it back on, im sure i blew/burned it is this fixable? if so how much on average?
About the only reason a capacitor will go bad is due to excessive voltage. Check all your fuses. And recharge cap using a resistor.
I agree with Viking. I used to have a cap in my car and would routinely disconnect my battery and flip my 120amp circuit breaker on and off since I had a voltage draw that I couldn't find. Most of the time the cap maintained the charge, but a couple times when I accidentally flipped the circuit breaker on before reconnecting the battery terminal, it would spark and I'd have to recharge the cap. Sometimes it'd be fine, though. I never had any problems with it, but after removing it, no more voltage draw. If it were me, I'd first discharge it completely (just because the power wire came off doesn't mean it's discharged) and then recharge it. Does the amp have a digital voltage display? Is it not functioning or something?
