I have a sealed box that i made that i have installed already but now i want to port it, were is the best location to put a port side , front back ???? I want to use a 2nich port the mtx subs are a 34 frequency in a 1.7 cuft enclosure each side dual box 2 mtx 8500 dual 4 briage in 2 ohm each thanks
based on some port program and the size of the box they said 2'' was ok and the length of the port gets longer with a big size like 3 or 4 so sound good bass from a 2inch port, what size shouldi go to???
my box is 36.25 w 14height 17depth 2 dual 12inch mtx 8500 and devided inside. like 1.7 each chamber want to port each chamber on the side the sub are at a 34freg
You will have port noise with a 2" port. That program you used is crap if it suggested a 2" port. I would only use a 2" port with a 6.5" subwoofer. I would suggest a 4" round port. The problem is the length will have to be very long and folded inside the enclosure and take up that 1.7 cu ft. That is the problem with trying to ghetto rig a sealed enclosure to a ported enclosure. Its not easy. It is much easier and the end result will but MUCH better by building a ported enclosure.
you are right i spoke with mtx and they said need 2.0 to make it ported, don't have that much room in a lincoln mark vii trunk . i am trying to make the bass deep like a ported. i used poly foam but not deep like port still trying
If you want deep bass within a small enclosure...you need more power. Hoffmans Iron Law....read up about it.
or u can use an enormous enclosure with enormous amounts of power hehe and ya a 2" port would sound like a hair dryer.
ok ok mtx said i need a largrer enclousure to port it like 2.00each side, which i dont have., o well will have to make th seal work.
