Almost done with my door pods. Man has it been a learning experience. They are about 3/8" thick now with so many fiberglass and bondo layers. I just put the first coat of primer on and can now see much more sanding is needed. I guess it dosent matter because I plan to cover them in the future when I fur the whole interrior of my car. Here are the pics of the creation of these beasts http://www.lynns-place.com/stba/linkto/index.html tell me what you think
Very nice work Space. Clean and straight as hell. The work I've done with fiberglass has taught me a couple things... leave it to someone else, and mad props to those who do it well. The second applies to the job you did. 2 thumbs up and mad props bud...
aww your comments are making me all yummy inside seriously, thanks guys. It has been much harder than I thought it would be. But I am not swayed, It can only get easier from here on out. These things are thick enough that I can stand on them and they dont even flex. A friend of mine likes them so much in the spring we are doing a custom fiberglass install for his subs.
they are finished.... not quite as smooth as I would like, but hey, Im covering them soon anyways. Check out the link again to see the final installed pics!! http://www.lynns-place.com/stba/linkto/index.html
Nice Man! You don't know how many hours in class I spend thinking about how to make the fiberglass cover I want to make for my sub. And yet I have no clue how to build the frame to do it with. Anyways Looks nice!!!
They look great! They look smooth in the finished shots... did you work them a bit more, or is it just tough to see the small imperfections in the photos? So you are going to be covering this all in fur, eh? What kind of car is that anyways?
yea... I wasent very happy with them the first time i primered them, so another layer of bondo and sandpaper later, they look a bit better, but I still wouldnt be near satisfied if I wasent covering them any ways. That is a (dont laugh) 1991 ford escort hatchback.
I have heard that some fords have inertia switches that shut off the fuel line when you hit something, and that subs might be able to trip it. Dont have a clue as to wich cars have them or not though. Of course it could all be fictionous for all I know... My dream car would have to be a Honda CRX SI...
