Ok so my amp is a Phoenix Digital PD-395 1200W and it has not been turning on lately. There is a light on the side that turns Red or Green...red meaning something is wrong...green meaning the system is working. So i checked every fuse and all wires. I even opened it up and checked for any blown objects. I am running the system on 4-gage wire with 80amp fuse. When i turn on the amp the red light turns on for about 2 seconds then shuts off...but the LED lights still are on. Can anyone help me with this problem...it is extremely frustrating thanks
Also I have also bought a new (cheap) head deck and tested to see if it was the RCA connections at the Head deck but that also didnt help (and the remote turn on lead had been changed so its not that) and correction the amp only turns on for a few seconds...and the LCDs are unrelated to the amp being on...
have you checked for any cold sodder joints on the board? the way to tell this is that the cold sodder joint wil be dull and the good ones will be shinny
Well i dont really know how to get to the soldered side... the walls have clamps on them that dont come off(or i am a moron and dont know how to get them off...) Any more help?
I have a buddy that wants to buy a pheonix digital amp.. I told him to hold off because I knew nothing about that brand.. So how do you guys feel about the pheonix? Is this a brand of amp that would warrant fixing, or are they cheap enough that you'd be better of replacing it? I'd appreciate any pro's and cons that y'all wanna spit..
so i was looking on the board...and found that there was a circuit missing...it was labeled as C219 and looking at all the other "C" series circuits i believe it looks like a darker yellow, round circuit that sticks up...anyone know what this does...
wow i guess i am the only one posting on my board..lol... Update: So i found out what was missing(could be missing on because PD might use the same board for different models)...it is a Ceramic Disc Capacitor. But while doing this i was looking around and i found a light gray spot...i also found a hair(maybe fine wire) near this spot....could that have shorted out the system?
i had the same problem, but with my power acoustik amp. I checked everything, the fuses, the rca's (9 volt battery), power, ground, and finally the remote turn on. I found that it was not making a good connection and replaced the wire. It fixed my problem and my system is thumping away still. its worth checking at least.
oops i should have read it all, sorry i repeated what you had said didnt work. my bad. there could be a short somewhere on your amp to the frame of your car, i had the power wire just touching my amp and it was shorting on my seat.

what load was your amp running when it failed? 1ohm, 2ohm, .5 ohm??? How hot does it usually get when operating? Check your speakers (subs) too. if one blew on you, your amp was effectively running a dead short and they don't like that too much. To help out the other gentlemen. Phoenix gold has a history of fairly high quality products. Then again, every company wants to make money by appealing to a larger market. Price effectiveness equals poor construction. You get what you pay for every time. Warranty work was never a problem ten years ago when a shop I worked for was selling them. We also never had a defective piece in the year I was there. I guess I am no help there. So, in short. Avoid the entry level stuff spend a little extra and you should be very pleased with your product.
My buddy came over the other day and we hooked it up too his subs/car. It still had the same problem. I am just going to send it back to them and have to wait a month for it to come back. In the mean time i am gonna buy a new(better) amp and if they fix the old one i will use it for my car speakers.' Thanks for all the help guys
