Greetings all, have a ques here need help with.
I have a pioneer deh3900 and it played great for about 3 months. It suddenly started cutting out the volume randomly 1-10 times in a row or within 2-3 minutes or not at all for and hour. It does it at any volume and with all inputs(radio,CD or ipod jack). It is running through a Radio Shack Realistic amp only 40 watts. It does it with amp on or off. If you pop off the HU and pop back in volume is back. Checked all wiring and all is tight, no loose connections or anything. I see many posts about HU being culprit if wiring is intact, does this sound liike the issue, if so where can you get new or used HU for Pioneer?

walmart carry's pioneer hu's, and after all you do have internet, and as for your current hu i haven't any ideal why its doing that (first thing to my mind was a short) you got a buddy or some one you know with a similar hu that you could try before you go buying new stuff?

Random issues like this can be hard to track down. Especially if its few and far between. Modern electronics are fairly reliable. So I would double check wiring, not only behind the radio, but also any speaker connections in the car. A grounded speaker wire, or speaker wires shorted together can cause audio issues. I would look again very carefully. Thats the first step. If installed by a shop, if they have any reputation at all, they will look at it free of charge....

I did check wiring several times, it is the weirdest thing how it cuts out randomly or not at all. I will try another hu cause it's driving me nuts. Do other head units operate 3900player or just the 3900hu? thanks all
