Hello, I'm making my first steps in the car audio hobby ^_^ and I need some help. I have a Pioneer TS-W307D4 sub and a Kenwood Kac-726 amp. So I want to make a box for the subwoofer, but i don't want that deep-vibrating bass - what must be the box sealed or not ? On the cover of the sub there are a few sizes for boxes - the sealed one is 35cm cube. I'm listening to rap/hip-hop/house/dance. I'm planning to put the sub in a '98 Ford Focus Hatchback. Technical Specification Sensitivity: 89 dB RMS Power Range : 400 Watts Peak Power Handling: 1200 Watts Impedance: Dual 4 Ohm Low Frequency response: 18 Hz High Frequency Response: 500 Hz Diameter: 12 Inch Features 12" 4-ohm Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer 1200 Watts Maximum Power 400 Watts Nominal Power Double Stacked Magnet IMPP with Aramid Fiber Composite Cone 83 Oz. well, the easiest way to go about it is to make a sealed box. since you don't want ground pounding bass you may just want to go with 1.5 cu. ft. sealed box.
yup, 3/4 MDF. Wood glue all the joints and pre drill holes every 3 inches and screw the joints together. I've done two boxes already, it's really not that hard.
