I'm not familiar with this product... a speaker, I assume?

Alnico is a type of magnetic material.
Most common, you see Ferrite magnets on speakers and subwoofers.

Very commonly on small tweeters, you'll find Neodymium magnets... and every so often on larger speakers, but they tend to be exotics.

Not very often on anything do you see Alnico magnets.
I believe there are several reasons for that.
    Mostly - heat resistance.
Speakers get warm in operation... over 90% of the power sent through a speaker is wasted as heat in the voice coil... speakers are simply not efficient. And they do get hot.
and unfortunately, Alnico has a low thermal magnetic temperature... it loses it's magnetism when it heats past a certain threshhold.

People complain about this with Neodymium... but Neodymium actually has a higher temperature threshhold than Alnico (and in practical terms, Neodymium is just fine... Alnico may be as well).

So - I'd be intrigued, and concerned at the same time. :B
