I know some of you guys use paypal, i don't want to see any of you screwed, so pay attention... i'm sure you've heard this before, but

the spoofs are getting DAMN GOOD

If you get an email from paypal, forward it immediately to spoof@paypal.com

I got a real good one yesterday...
anyone could be taken by this scam, it's quite convincing.

The mail came from service@paypal.com and looked very official until you read it closely.

    the letter states:

*coughs* If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choise but to temporaly suspend your account. /*coughs*

Kneejerk reactions is what they count on... don't get sucked in. Tell people you know to forward this shit to spoof@paypal.com and NEVER click links in emails!

This has been a public service announcement.

Good find. I'll sticky this in a while, but I know alot of people don't look at the stickys often, so I'll leave it here to get good readership. Thanks.

As gonz said, never click on these things. If you are unsure, type in www.paypal.com and go to the site yourself. Login there; and if they want you to check something, they will tell you then.

I don't know why someone wouldn't use a spell checker if they are sending out a business email like that.

Well i ALWAYS forward them to spoof@paypal.com
in hopes they'll find and prosecute any asshole who sends these things.

The spoof department always replies and states the email IS NOT from Paypal.

Therefore, it's instant peace of mind.

If In Doubt... FWD to: Spoof@paypal.com

    It's really that simple.
    Just don't react without thinking,
even THINKING about it, this email looks convincing,
so remember what i'm telling you here.... Spoof@paypal.com !

I usually get these things at a junk email account, one that is in no way connected to paypal... this time, it came to my paypal email address, and it had me goin' for a second... then i got the reply from SPOOF that it was bullshit.

    Another thing to remember...
the link thats in the email does Not take you to HTTPS://WWW.PAYPAL.COM
Which is the ONLY addy you should be using, for ANYTHING paypal related. Period.

The misspelling on the word "choice" is a dead givaway...
Thankfully, because I agree - the formatting of the Email is really what otherwise makes it convincing...
Although the wording is too harsh, too strong for me to believe. That was a givaway for me, although I know TONS of people that would have been the sharp point on the end of the fishhook for...

While many of US might realize it's a scam,
Theres way too many ppl who would'nt.
Think grandmothers, or little sisters, etc...

Gotta make ppl aware that email is the new Telemarketing scam.

That's funny, I get like 5 of those a day... I never really paid them any attention as I don't have anything to do with CITI...

    Oh well.
