hey, Azn is that Orion still available? Is it a mono amp? I need one for my subs, they are mtx 10" 400w rms each in a vented box.

My poor 100 watt esa running at 2 ohms has went into thermal protection about 10 times now and i know i'm running out of times lol.

lol how much money are you trying to spend on an amp??

sorry but I can't remember what Orion amp you are talking about

what subs do you have??? like what series and impedance??? Guessing single 4 ohm because you have em at a 2 ohm load lol

Not a good Idea, instead increase the volume of the music files themselves.
If its an MP3 file use MP3 Gain, for other formats there are similar programs.

Oh well there is an old orion hcca 225 amp but it pumps out an underrated 400 watts at 1 ohm MONO

Hey Ranger, Can you explain a little more why it's not a good idea. My ipod's battery dies very quickly from being cranked and i don't really want to use any more software than itunes, It's pretty well automatic, no screwing around and it is superfast. Will do one cd in about 4 mins. I'm not going to go crazy with the gains on the pac, just want to boost it enough so it matches when i switch over to cd or radio, It is way out, will blow my speakers if i forget to turn it down then switch to cd or radio. I'm thinking the ipod is only putting out 300mv or something not normal from the headphone jack. Maybe i can measure it with my new meter lol.

um your subs can handle 400 rms each...I wouldn't recommend this amp...also if something happens and the amp fails than you are SOL

Those kicker 750.1s have been tested to put out close to 900 watts at 14 volts in a 2 ohm load

If you stay realistic with the gains it will work fine. My son uses I-Tunes (I Don't) and he told me once that I-Tunes has the ability to adjust MP3 volume levels before loading the Ipod.

My opinion comes from Crank It Up contests. When I used a Line Level amp, my van was not as loud. In fact, it was loudest when running HU's with less than 1-volt pre outs. Yes we had to turn up the gains on the amp, but I think the signal was cleaner. In other words, the amps had a cleaner signal to work with.

I started making my own demo CD's with adjusted volume levels and to a point it worked. The van got louder. It quit getting louder when my base volume reached 100.5dB. After that the CD actually had a clipped signal (I was using sine wave tones, not music).

I had the same problem with my Ipod, low volume level. I could adjust the source volume on the HU, but I'm a picky b*tch. So I adjusted the MP3 files themselves so that everything was at the same level.

I think you'll be OK as long as you don't get carried away with the gain adjustments.
