I'm having a lot of trouble deciding between the two, pls give me your opinions. Alpine iDA-X303 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9212318&type=product&id=1218059946001 Pioneer DEH-P5100UB http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9197175&type=product&id=1218056226379
honestly, i like the Pioneer just cuz of the 4V preouts. did you test any of them out at best buy? which one do you like better? The alpine only has 2V preouts which isn't much at all.
"what features are you looking for in a HU? and whats your budget??" - Hey Kvo - I play a lot of my music off of my Ipod which both of these are great for. All the other specs fit as well (ie: # of pre-outs etc..) They are about $200 which is right where I want to be price wise as well. I like them both a lot I am just having trouble pulling the trigger on one so I thought It couldn't hurt to ask for peoples opinions. "honestly, i like the Pioneer just cuz of the 4V preouts. did you test any of them out at best buy? which one do you like better? The alpine only has 2V preouts which isn't much at all." - Hey Cullen, yeah I noticed the difference between the pre-out voltage which is playing into my decision. The only one they had on display was the Alpine so I am going to fish around and see if I can find the Pioneer to play with as well.
The Alpine does not have a CD Player. It is an Ipod player only. I have one and I love it. But if you ever plan on playing a CD, you need the Pioneer.
x2. or if you want to pay a little more, you can buy the alpine cda 105 or the 9886. both of which have ipod capabilities i believe
I went to the store yesterday and played around with both of them for a while. They both seem like really good units. I like the looks of the Pioneer better than the Alpine, especially with the dash set-up of my jeep.. it will fit in better. Both seem like they will be great to search through my ipod with which is really important. I might like the controls of the Alpine a little better, you can press the turn nozzle on the Pioneer in different directions so when trying to press straight down, you might press it to the side by accident it seems sometimes. The Pioneer does have 4 voltage pre-outs which is more than the Alpine at 2V. I don't listen to CD's that much, but I would want a HU with a player just in case.
