When you read the ratings of amp-speakers-stereos..when it says blah x4 or blah x2 or x1. Does it mean like 200 x 4 = 50 watts per channel or 200 per EACH channel? I've alway wanted to ask this question but keep forgeting to ask anyone with some knowledge.I just assumed it meant 200 x4 =50 watts per channel. Or does it depend on the brand?

Usually 200x4 would mean 200watts per channel. Also depends if thats the peak rating or the RMS rating.

depending on the brand...some company's will advertise the max watts. like 2000 watts...but the fuse's are only 2x30. the cheaper the price for the amp the more the company has to make it look good. well...most of the time. I you stick with popular brands and brands that have been around for a while you should be ok. i hope this helps...
