hey eh, i`m darren, like my tunes& my tibby; just bought a used jvc pdr50 & i`m looking for an ipod cable for it along with some advice on how to set it up in my car on a tight budget. Currently i have a clarion deck, with mtx tdx6802 in doors & 4512-44 in a custom fabbed box in hatch pushed by a rtp202. rear skrs are factory along with dash tweeters. i also have a jensen 400 watt amp i was thinking about putting in to drive the front, but please as i am very uneducated on any of this,i welcome thoughts & criticisms to try & better set up what i have now. thx & hope to hear from you all dz67
first welcome. glad you joined. ok lets dive right in.. what is the final load of your subs? cause if you wanted, you could wire the jensen to the subs for a lil mor power and power the fronts with the mtx. you would just have to run another set of rca's to the rear from the decks front output. you'll also have to send new wires from the amp to the front speakers. how thick is your power wire going to the amp now. i ask cause if its thick enough you can get a distribution block and wire both amps to it with out having to rewire a new thicker power wire from the front to the rear of the car.
uh ok, i have 1 sub 4512-44 dual voice coil wired in parallel (225 rms; 400 watts max) in a pressboard sealed cabinet( i have build pics) the rtp202 pushin it is bridged so produces 150watts rms the Jensen amp max is 400 watts but that`s bridged output ( i think it`s 75/side rms) i believe my amp wire is 8 guage, but it might be 4, can`t remember. my car is on mtx website http://www.mtxrides.com/Ride.aspx?mc=1&ID=46235af6-3ee8-4856-8c3c-008f2215d3a9 also the JVC head i just purchased has dual outputs , front & rear with a sub output setting on it thx dz67
hmm ok. i guess swapping amps would be a no go. anyways im sure the mtx puts out more clean power than the jensen. if you have 4 gauge it wouldnt be a prob adding the jensen for the front stage. im sure it will sound better than deck power. if its 8 gauge then some new thicker wire is in order along with some rca's to the rear, and some speaker wire to run to the front speakers.
