okay so i have 2 kenwood excelons 12's running 300rms a piece dvc 2 ohm per coil subs running to a sony 9001gtr monoblock amp which runs 900 rms @ 2 ohms or 550 rms @ 4 ohms i know its better to run a 2 ohm setup for the type of ohms my subs are but is it bad becuase of the wattage what should i do? oh and why do some monoblock amps have 2 sub ports or whatever
you have to run it at either 2 ohms or 8 ohms...go w/ the 2 ohms...just lower the bass on the hu so u dont blow the subs
he means it has 2 out puts like a 2 ch amp would. it's just easier to hook up the subs that way.no twisting wires and what not.
you cant run those at 4 ohms mono anyways. with dual 2 ohm subs your choices are 1/2 ohm,2ohm,8ohm. so having it at 2 ohms is your only choice
oh aiite fosho so is there anyway that u could maybe tell me how 2 wire it i have the lil connector things to "bridge" the port/connector things on the subs and on my h.u. i cant lower the bass of the subs(the only way i can use the sub level on there is to change the settin where my 6x9's dont work.its weird) but i cant like just turn down the bass on the amp or something? and im thinkin of just gettin either 2 type r's 500 rms a piece or 2 hifonics 600 rms a piece just to make the wattage easier to pair up good idea or no? oh and the shop gave me sum extra e.q. they had so the guy is gonna hook is gonna help me hook stuff up when i go so would that work on lower the bass?
i dont understand why you cant control your subs and your rear outs independantly. Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul is this your radio?if so then i'm very very sertain that you have the rear outs to your 6x9's set up as the sub outs. that radio has 3 outs front/rear/non fading sub.
those subs will work fine. The amp will NOT be putting out 900 watts constantly all day....just dont crank the gain on your amp and you'll be fine
oh okay i'll keep it up but i think im going to look at the back of the h.u. and check becuase ya it shouldnt be like that and im going to be read the manual to see if i see something but about my h.u. it has 3 rcas F(front im guessing) R(rear?) S(sub) and well whenever the amp rcas were hooked up to the f or r it worked..but not to the sub maybe i shoudl just check everything again
well ya.theres a sub control +6 through -24 but the thing is theres a function on the h.u. that u change it says like...rear output and its either s/w or full when u put it to s/w u can adjust but dont get anything from the 6x9 but when u put it to full you get 6x9's but the adjust button doesnt work i think im going to mess around with the rca's to try and find something
you must have the rca's wired to the wrong amp for the 6x9's. do you have an amp for every speaker or not? tell me every thing you have.so i can be of further help.
okay well see i didnt install all this when my original system was hooked up,and i still have the same wires and all that since then but no i dont.i dont have an amp to my speakers i still have stock speakers(soon to be aftermarket in a few days) which im guessing means are still hooked up to the h.u. and maybe circuit city could have done something when i got my h.u. installed there anything else and my sub amp has the rca's hooked up to either the front output becuase thats the only one that works for some reason and the rear output is empty also another thing like how h.u. are usually around 50x4...doesnt that mean 4 outputs and if so i only see like 3 the F,R,and S i think im going to take out my h.u. to look at it
that 50x4 means nothing...just a peak power output and how many channels there is no way any head unit can put out 50 real watts
well i know that the rms is 22 but i was focusing on the "4" does that mean like 4 outputs or what becuase when i looked i just saw the 3
well i want to run it off 2 ohms but then the directions or whatever for that includes wiring like the one positive on each sub to run to the amp and then the same for the negative..but how do i do that with a sealed box? good idea to drill a hole?
doesnt really matter how you do it...just as long as all the positive terminals are paralleled and the same for the negatives
okay well i have a setup like this the "monoblock" amp has like a 2 channel setup so i believe i have it hooke dup to a 4 ohm config out of the 4 ports on each sub...i have 2 on each like "bridged" or whatever and then the other 2 on each go to the ports on the box
