Right now my subs (2 sony xplods) are only giving me trunk vibration and good sounding bass in the car. I want my next system to be like the other cars I can hear from down the street. Instead of hearing my trunk rattle I want to hear bass. Do my subs just suck or is my box wrong or what? Thanks.
Sounds like Ranger has it right--bigger box & better tuning. The guys here can help you tune your box right. They definitely helped me get my box tuned so my car slams.
But the thing is I love low bass and listen to songs that have a lot of low bass like gucci. There's this song called 'I think I'm in love' that I heard in this guys system and it has suuuuuper low bass but I could hear it really good from a block away and all he has is like 2 12s. My box seems tuned high to tell you the truth because when I listen to that low bass it doesn't seem as loud as when it gets to the higher bass notes. When it does hit higher bass notes it vibrates the heck out of everything but the low bass seems weak which is exactly what I don't want.
what size box are your sonys in? from experience a 12 should work well in a box from 1.5 cubes to 2.0 or slightly larger. my 12's are in a 3.84 cf box with a lil stuffing to closer mimic a 4.0 cube box. im tuned to 30HZ in a hatch back and the deep bass notes can be felt more that heard on some songs. since you have a trunk its a little harder to get loud bass like in a hatchback, but it can be done. porting thru the rear deck will help get he bass into the cabin rather than it fighting the rear seat cushion to get thru.
Well I don't plan on putting my new system in this car. I am getting a new car and hopefully it will have a lot of trunk space. I will be getting all new stuff. I plan on buying a whole package off ebay for like $200 bucks that comes with the subs already in the box so it's all tuned to perfection and what not. What do you think my box is tuned to? I agree that it is too small but... tuned to low? I don't understand how that can be.
To be honest all that information was lost. It was on my old computer which crashed and it was all lost a while back. I just need to know what I need to buy for my NEXT system that will give me some kick ass lows that you can hear the low bass and not just the car rattling.
Can you say "DynaMat"? If you want others to hear your music, why not just mount some compression horns on the roof?
Haha it's not that I want people to notice my car or anything. When I open my car door you can hear the music blaring but no bass. When everyone else opens their doors you can hear the music and plenty of bass. All you hear with mine is my trunk falling apart. All Dynamat does is reduces the trunk rattling. I want the bass to travel.
I think that you should invest in a single 15 and build a nice ported box for it.. and get some peel and seal from lowes. it helps with the rattling, and "I think I'm in love" was insane in my durango until I fried the 15's.. what part of Ohio you from?
