The diections are not very clear, but it does say "turn off the auto turn on switch inorder to use the orange remote wire". So I would assume that it does auto sense signal.

But listen, if you have a unit with RCA's, it will also have a remote turn on wire. So you might as well run the orange remote wire with the RCA's. Save some work, do both at the same time.

the orange turn on wire at the amp.

it is called the "remote turn on" wire...it sends a 12 volt signal when the head/source unit is on and that signal turns on the amp

    What brand is your radio?

Most aftermarket radios have a blue wire or a blue wire with a white stripe. If your radio has both use the blue with the white stripe. Hook the orange to that and you should be fine

Radio is a Sony CDX-GT410U. I seem to have a small amp helping my antenna so I use the blue/white wire for that. I still have a blue wire not being used. The blue/white is labeled amp rem .3a , the blue is labeled ant rem .1a . I believe the blue is to power your antenna. Could I use this for the amp remote on, ornage wire. By the way, this is going in my Isuzu Trooper 2002. And thanks for your responses.

Oh yeah, what gauge wire should I use???

Because you have both a blue and blue/white, you need to use the blue/white for amp turn on.

Some radios with both wires shut off the blue wire when the CD is on. This way the antenna is up only when the radio is on. If you have an amp hooked to it, it will work fine when the radio is on, but the amp will shut off when the CD player is being used.

You can hook both the amp and the antenna to the blue/white if you choose, it should not be a problem. This is a low current wire so 16 to 14 gauge would be more than enough
