Ok so I've been away from Car audio for quite some time, and now that my wife and I have moved to a small town I drive 2 hours a day. Now I'm sorta in the mood to upgrade my factory stereo. I currently have an 06 Hyundia Santa Fe, which has Factory 6.5 comps in the front, 6.5" in the rear. I'm looking at the following set up, I want something inexpensive yet decent sounding. I wanted to know if this set up will work, I live in Canada and looking to buy my stuff from the US, since its far cheaper down there.

How does this look for a set up, I'm curious if this will have enough pre amps, preamp output stuff ( i'm not sure on these things) as well, would this amp be able to go 3 channel so I can run 2 channels to the Door Comp's and 1 channel to the 10" sub.

So I'm just woundering if this will all work together and your thoughts on it.

    Thanks Winky

P.s. I was just planing on leaving the 6.5 in the rear, or maybe replacing them with new ones and running them off the deck. I really didnt want to have to AMP's installed, as well I only really wanted one sub since we have 2 kids in Hockey and need the rear space. Any advice you can throw in would be great, as well really how hard is it to install an Amp now a days? I'm assuming I'm just running a power cable from the battery and preouts from the Deck and some speaker wire

    Thanks

Hey there, well honostly you have a nice beginner system there.

Since you seem to like that site ...

I honostly think you would be happier with this set of comps over those Kickers plus save a few bucks in the process.

As far as the amp goes I have nothing against Power Acoustik. They are good for when you are on a budget. Though, I might suggest getting one of the other 2 power acoustik amps that are listed there with the same power ratings. The SL4-1000 or the LT960/4 for the reason that the screens on those Plasma amps have a tendency to die over time. But if thats not a big deal to you then any of them will work because im sure they prolly have the same internals.

That deck will do fine with the set you have going.

8ga wire will work for this particular set up.. but if you ever decide to upgrade your power you will have to move to 4ga so you may just want to go ahead and run 4ga right off the bat to save you some time.

That sub should work for the time being just make sure you get or make the right kind of box for it.

DO NOT BUY a prefabed band pass box.. EVER. The box you have in the link there is a prefrabricated band pass box.. please do not buy it. Either buy a 1.0 cu ft sealed enclosure OR MAKE yourself a 2.0 cu ft ported one.

This thing will work from there

Just keep it sealed up. If you want ported you have to step up to 2.0 cu ft and double your box size.

    Dave,

Thanks for your quick reponse, I'm assuming you linked Polk Audio Comps I would love to get them, but they do not ship to Canada Polk Audio Equipment, hence why I went with Kicker (as well no MQ Quart). The reason I went with that site is they use USPS to ship to Canada, and for all of that order its costing me $10 ( since most of it is free shipping) and going through USPS means I pay a lot less in Duty as opposed to UPS or Fed Ex.

So Would running 2 channels for the Comps, Bridging the other 2 for the sub, and running 2 rear Two ways of the deck sound alright, or should I just scrap the 2 rears entirly.

I would rather buy a probox rather than that crappy q-logic box...that box has more plastic on it than MDF...and the port walls are like a half in thick.

hey azn i have that very same box.it's in my home theater.it rocks!!the only problem is it has zero output past 50 or so hz. i run 2 subs 1 for the deeeep bass(that one)and the second for upper bass.up to 150hz.so a diffrent box might be in order.

    i also have the LT960 4 ch amp.did very well.very flexable xover.get it!

    love polks too.had the coaxials. 6.5 db's.

I just hate those q-logic boxes...they are weak.

My friend from best buy installed a couple type r's in the same type plasticky q-logic box from best buy and a couple RF 600.2's...well after a week or two the box shook apart and was detroyed by the subs.
