I would like to know your opinions on the items im picking, and what you think I should get. what i'm trying to get is quality, but also a decent amount of power, it's a small car. so this should all be more than enough. current system - -eclipse EA 4000 50x4 watts at 4ohm's http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/amp/ea4000.html -polk 2 way's 190 max, 75 watt RMS 2 way's x 4 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9111_Polk+Audio+db651.html -10" MTX thunder 4500 250 rms enclosed in a seal box http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8293_MTX+Audio+T4512-04.html -kicker zx200.2 200 watts rms at 4 ohm's(blew)http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11542_Kicker+08ZX200.2.html this is what i'm looking at put into my car new system -Infinity Kappa 60.9cs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13969_Infinity+Kappa+60.9cs.html -Infinity Kappa 60.9cs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13969_Infinity+Kappa+60.9cs.html -Eclipse XA4200 200 watts rms at 2ohm's x4 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17806_Eclipse+XA4200.html -Eclipse XA1200 x1 600 watts rms at 2ohms(500 at 4ohms) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17801_Eclipse+XA1200.html -Eclipse SW6210 500 rms duel coil 4 ohm, ( wired in parralell for 2ohm's) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11724_Eclipse+SW6210.html havn't picked a box yet, what does eveyrone think of my pick's, i've heard that these kappa tend to blow, do you think they can handle 200 watts rms, their max is 250sh, so I'm not sure. also, would I have to wire the componates any special way that they won't have 4ohms at the amp?
what speakers would you recommend for that amp? should i jsut get some standard 4ohm speakers? and if so, what brand :-\
Idk if im getting the speakers and 4 channel amp for awhile but i think i'm gonna go with these 2 for my amp\sub http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7560_Orion+HCCA-D1200.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4010_JL+Audio+12W6v2-D4.html was thinking about putting it into a bandpass enclousure, tell me what you think, I'm not sure if it'll sound better in their or not, it's a pretty sharp sub, idk if that'll just dull it down for better lows :-\ http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9309_12BPS+Custom+Enclosure.html
quality my friend, i asked around and that my firend is the absolute preclinical of perfection according tot he masses, but i supose if i really wanted ot i could get the next model down whitch is a 160$ sub, and is pretty much rated for the same stuff, this one is just suposed to be the best of the best for this range of subs.
Drink whatever kool aid you want my friend, but I would quite disagree (especially considering you want to use a prefab box). The box is really more important than the sub. Get a custom box built by a pro for any sub and it will sound great, but whatever your money is your money.
really, will the box make that much of a dif? what kind of box do you prefer, i'm pretty handy im sure i can build one, what would be best for a sub like that, ported or unported?
Yes the box will make that much of a difference. What are you looking for? SPL or SQ or somewhere in between? How much space do you have? What type of music do you listen to? Answer those and I can give you a rough design.
SQ > all the thump that the sub provides on it's own is enough for me, I listen to alot of rock, indie emo. I like my music to sound good. I don't care if somone can hear me coming a mille away, means nothing to me, though amusing at work when i pull up and eveyrone looks, not importent enough to loose quality. the trunk has alota ratle, i also need to solve that. I'm thinking of insolating it, it's an avg sized trunk, i can fit a decent sized box, i'd say 22 wide, 18-20 tall 18-20 deep shuold be fine anwhere in their,t heirs of course a corner out of the top right and the seat is at a angle in the back, maybe 15 degree's ish
Ok then I'm not going to exactly design you a box cause I can't see what is really there in the trunk or how it is set up (nor am I a pro), but you could do a 4.0ft^3 box tuned to 27Hz (using the minimum height and depth) and retain a great curve. I'm going to attach a pic of the response curve you would get below. What kind of car is it?
it's a susuki esteem, i'll go take a high def pic of the trunk to show you whats going on in their, give me 10 mins
I'm not entirly sure on how to do all these things i can build it, but how do i tune it, and how do i make sure it's on the exact freq i want? :\ is their a device i can by to make sure it's at the right freq? also what app can i use to design a box so i can start building it, i imagine it'll be the cheapest and funnest part of this entire thing for me, so wanna get started on it since it'll proboibly take me awhile and a few attempts to get right
