Hey there I was just surfing around trying to get any intell possible about the install I have been thinking about for a lil bit now, browsed this site for a few and figured it would be a great place to get some good advice as to what I am thinking of doing, I hope to meet alot of you guys and girls that frequent this site and REALLY hope to gleam a plethora of insights into what is what and how it should be done, I have never done an install myself and am really looking forward to learning how its done, as I REALLY would like to get rid of the stock system I am forced to cope with as it is currently (I REALLY MISS MY BASS!!!) Thanks in advance for all the help I am given from all of you audio masters
K after looking at a few other posts in the introductions I gather that it would be a good idea to mention what it is that I am working with for this first install Car : 1998 Mazda Protege LXi (My Daily Driver) Head Unit : Pioneer DEH-P7700MP Fronts : Pioneer TS-G1341R Rears : Pioneer TS-A6871R Subwoofers : (2) Pioneer TS-W301R Amplifier : (1) Sony Xplode 1652Z (I have heard bad things about sony amplifiers but I can't seem to get rid of it so I guess I gotta use it) Other than that I am thinking about doing a 3/4" MDF Sealed dual sub enclosure myself since I want to learn how to build boxes anyways and I have some expierence working with wood and fiberglass..... wish I knew how to make one from Plexi, but that'll be another project altogether So lemme hear what you think...
there ya go! Build your own box, save some money and be satisfied with a job well done, by yourself! Goodn plan!
thanks for the encouragement, I REALLY need all of that I can get at this point, cuz I am more than a little sketchy about doing it myself at this point as I have only seen it done a couple times before now and at this point I am just trying to figure out some things that are VERY basic, for one, I have no idea how to get to my front door speakers to switch them out, last car I had was an 86 honda accord so all I had to do is pop the speaker guards off and unscrew, but this mazda has flush mounted speakers, which means I can't just pop and swap. I have heard that fords use a special tool to get the door panels off and I am a little leary that since mazda is owned by ford the same might be the case for me, but I have no idea at this time, or else I would have already switched those crappy paper cone speaks out... After that I need to figure out how to get the stock headunit out of the dash (The Right Way) and figure out how exactly I should go about running the wires for the subs and amp, then I should be golden for the moment
