Hey guys I'm new to this site but not entirely new to car audio stuff. I'm 15, and my brother is 18, and he's had different systems throughout his driving career. He is currently running 2 Kicker 15'' CVX's in an 8 cu. ft. box and it whams pretty hard. I will be getting a truck of some sort when my 16th bday comes around. Not entirely sure what kind yet, just depends on the deal I can find. You know how that is. I'd like to be able to beat HARD without taking up a ****load of space, hence my interest in only one sub.

Anyways, that's my little story. I'm thinkin of goin with an 18'' FI BTL in like a 5 or 6 cu. ft. box, or an older model RE XXX. I'm not entirely sure which one to go with. I will be making a custom box with my uncle and he knows what he's doing, but I figured I'd get the opinions of some of the guys on here as well. Do you think I could take out the center console and form a box to fit between the two seats?

Also, what's the difference between dual 1 and 2 ohms? I'm thinkin I'll go with 1 ohm. What's the difference.

As you've probably realized by now, I want to make people's hearts skip beats from hundreds of feet away. I want a system that sounds amazing and slams.

    Opinions?

welcome to CAT. First off, you should definitely know what car/truck you are going to get and what type of space you are working with before you get all of your audio equipment. Also, "make people's hearts skip beats from hundreds of feet away" and not taking up a lot of room in your car/truck dont really go hand in hand unless you are running a lot of watts, say 3k+. The difference between dual 1 and dual 2 ohms are just different wiring configurations, so depending on the amp you choose, you would choose accordingly as to what coil configuration you want to get.

Burko you conpleatly contradict yourself. You dont want to take up alot of space but you want an 18'' sub, and box that will take up alot of space. you should wait untill you know what type of car/truck your getting so your not kicking yourself in the butt later if said iteams dont fit how you want them to. So far i have gotton tickets for my subs twice now. 1st time 300.00 fine, just wrote out a ticket, but now its automaticaly straight to court + the 300.00 fine, and if the judge is not cool with you 90 days in jail if he choses. I love my subs but now im so much more carefull. I just took my MTX 9500's out of Escape because i need room for my tools. I ordered some mtx shallow mounts. I just hope they sound ok, i mean compaired to 9500's it will prolly just be ok.
